European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe such as the French president accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans targeted figures that were at the heart of efforts to enact laws regulating US-based technology firms.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
